Angry Army Guy

I have friends in the forces. I talk to them about the things they have to deal with as part of their job and I can’t really imagine what they go through. However, there’s a time and a place for conversations like that. In the middle of an argument on Plentyoffish probably isn’t one of those times.

Him: Still here then lol

Me: Did we talk before or something?
And yes I am still here, not sure what your point is. I write a blog about bad online dating experiences so I’ll probably always be here.

[Or at least until writing about creepsters gets boring.]

Him: Wow defensive sorry yes we talked have a good day

Me: Yeah well it wasn’t nicest message you sent. Goodbye!

Him: well it wasnt offensive or rude more a jokey kind of message but
suite ya self

Me: Oh harhar what an awesome joke.

Him: Haha sarcasm isn’t your thing ;)

Me: And clearly spelling, grammar and punctuation aren’t yours.

Him: Things is I don’t let people’s comments get to me, and I also couldn’t care less, my job does not require me to be able to spell it requires me to kill people so you can keep on moaning about it, a job that people like you could never face up to doing, because of you was put in a tight spot or faced with death destruction and carnage you would crumble and break I assure you, how’s that for your spelling bee, oh and if you hadn’t guessed im in the army and like I said a thing that people like you could never handle

I kill people for my job, your argument is invalid.

And he knows this, because all literate, intelligent people are cowardly crybabies?
For someone in the military (assuming he even is, and doesn’t “kill people for a job” because he’s a hit man or something), he doesn’t have much of a grasp of military history — or does he think all generals are dimwits?

It’s one thing to be not terribly bright — and after all, we don’t *choose* the brain we’re born with — and something else altogether to be one of those sour grapes, “Oh, yeah? Well you smart people are [fill in negative quality here]!” whiners who’s not only dumb, but also pissy and resentful.

Does anyone else find it somewhat disturbing to hear a member of the armed forces so eager to list “killing people” as a major aspect of their job? I have the ultimate respect for the men and women who fight to keep our country safe, and I know that killing people can be a necessary (and presumably stressful) part of their job, but when they start putting the emphasis on “killing people” rather than “protecting people,” I get a bit nervous.
