YourWrecks.co.uk started off as a spin-off site from DateWrecks.com after it was shut down in mid-September, 2010.

While Date Wrecks focused specifically on the online dating arena of wreckage, YourWrecks casts a wider net, letting all the wrecks in.

Is your crazy ex-girlfriend STILL hung up on you and sending you four page letters? Did you have an date with a guy you met online only to find out once you got there that he was missing a leg? Have you been contacted on a dating site and you just  HAVE to share this wreck’s profile with the masses? And what about you? Did you totally fuck something up and now you realize YOU’RE the wreck?

Send it all here, kids. Just use the submission tab near the top of the page or send your submissions to yourwrecks@gmail.com.

Emily is a 24 year old English girl who spends far too much time online. She also recently moved to a new city and decided to give online dating a try. After finding out that a large portion of people on dating websites weren’t living up to her standards or even had the ability to type out readable messages, she decided to document all her awful experiences on YourWrecks. This includes crazy profiles she finds, awful messages she gets sent and weird but wonderful IM conversations she has. If she manages to go on any terrible dates she’ll write about them here too. Of course, YourWrecks wouldn’t be complete without some user generated content, so Emily hopes you all have some less-than-enjoyable experiences in your quest to find a suitable mate and you submit your stories to YourWrecks.

    Hi!

I’ve noticed recently (this week) when I was reading new posts that there’s something a bit wierd going on with the site. What’s happening is that links to spam/advertising/malware sites are being inserted into the posts on the site. I’ve double checked and it’s not something wierd going on with my computer (have run all my virus etc programmes, also it’s only this site it happens with.) It’s also intriguing because every time you reload the post (it’s happened with the two most recent posts, haven’t checked any others) the links change, and the places where they are inserted change. Also, they appear viewing the site in Google Reader.

Here’s an example from this post: http://yourwrecks.com/2011/04/856/

Here’s the page source for it:
If your futile attempt at getting buy amoxil without prescription someone’s attention fails – just insult them and pretend you weren’t interested anyway! Anything to save your precious ego. Strange too that his profile contains a list of pet peeves – one of them being ‘No 2. Oh did you know i’m a big girl? hello i can see in the pics lol if i wrote you that means it was something sexy about you.’

Not sure if it makes any difference to you but I’m using Firefox with Firebug installed (but switched off), also the usual addons (flashblock, adblock).

Sorry if you already know, but I figured since it’s been about five days since I noticed it that you might not have been told by anyone else.

Thank you for an awesome site. :)

    Hi,

Just wanted to say I found this website tonight and think the articles are brilliant. They’re really funny (and scary that some people do these kinda things), i just read one after the other.

I’ve recently started using pof again and so in my normal ‘bored time’ googling routine I happened across this site describing all the horrors pof can present. Had me in stitches.

So just to say thanks and keep up all the good work, can’t wait to read the next article.

    Thanks

    Alex

Aww thanks Alex :) Feel free to share any of your own weird experiences / bad dates you may happen to have while online dating (although hopefully you won’t!)

    Hi, ladies,

Only just found this after mourning the end of datewrecks since it happened. So glad the mockery is being carried on! Your submissions page is having trouble, though – when you click ‘submit’, it seems to be trying to link to yourwrecks.com, instead of .co.uk. Is there another way of submitting wrecks?

Thanks for letting me know Kate, hadn’t spotted this! I believe the submissions still go through to the submission inbox, the redirect is just going to our old URL. I’ll look into it :)
